About us

KPSA

The Kink Professional Standards Alliance (KPSA) is an inclusive and forward-thinking organization committed to advancing professionalism, ethics, and education within the kink and BDSM communities.

Our mission is to create a safe, accessible, and ethical space for kink professionals, educators, and practitioners, ensuring their work upholds the highest standards of respect, integrity, and community care.

At KPSA, we believe that kink and BDSM are powerful forms of personal expression, intimacy, and healing, and we are dedicated to ensuring that those who engage in these practices do so with awareness, respect, and consent. We aim to challenge the stigma surrounding kink, fostering a culture of inclusivity, understanding, and accountability.

Our work focuses on five key areas:

Professional Development

We provide kink professionals with resources, training, and certification programs, ensuring they have the knowledge, skills, and ethical framework to serve their clients and communities. Whether you are a top, bottom, switch, educator, or therapist, KPSA offers pathways for growth, education, and professional recognition.

Community and Advocacy

KPSA works tirelessly to create a community where kink professionals and practitioners can connect, collaborate, and support one another. We believe in the power of advocacy, fighting for the rights of marginalized groups within the kink community and ensuring that kink practices are understood and respected within broader society.

Ethics and Accountability

Our commitment to high ethical standards is at the core of everything we do. Through our Ethical Review Process, we ensure that research, professional practices, and community activities adhere to the principles of informed consent, non-exploitation, confidentiality, and safety. We empower professionals to lead with integrity and transparency, always prioritizing the well-being of their clients.

Education and Knowledge

PSA is dedicated to expanding knowledge in the kink field by offering a variety of educational opportunities. From research journals and webinars to workshops and community discussions, we aim to provide members with access to the latest developments, best practices, and research in kink-related fields.

Research and Community Education

KPSA's clinical frameworks and credentialing programs are grounded in rigorous research and a commitment to community-informed education. Our research and education initiatives are developed in partnership with Heal On Purpose Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to sexual trauma education, research, and healing within the Black community.

Heal On Purpose Inc. serves as the community-facing research, education, advocacy, and outreach arm of the KPSA ecosystem, centering the lived experiences of Black people across intersecting identities including kink, neurodivergence, disability, class, gender, and sexuality. This partnership reflects a foundational commitment that kink-affirming professional standards cannot be separated from an understanding of racialized trauma and the communities most impacted by stigma and systemic harm.
